“Me and my husband chose to dine at the restaurant for the first time when we had family visiting. The atmosphere of the restaurant is so warming and friendly and really does make you feel like you are in Spain! We noticed the menu had soo many options to choose from and many quite different from what we have seen before. We tasted over 12 tapas dishes and there wasn’t one we didn’t like! We especially liked the king prawns in spicy garlic sauce and the chicken wings however all of it was absolutely delicious! The service was also excellent we will definitely be going back and recommend to our friends and family!”
“One of the most wonderful meals we’ve ever had. This has to be one of the nicest restaurants in the south of England. The outlook is great, atmosphere lovely, very Spanish, nice view of the docks, with superb friendly service and absolutely stunning Spanish food. Superb!”
“Our kids love this place, great menu and great tapas. Service is always excellent and the owner often comes out and chats to the kids about the food and Spain. The paella is awesome and very similar to southern Spanish varieties. Some lovely dishes too that are not often found in England, the octopus bravas for instance. Being a Tapas bar/restaurant this place is also perfect for an ice cold beer in the summer accompanied by a plate of olives, or other basic tapas.”

“I visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening for my best friends birthday. The restaurant had an authentic and cosey decor which was extremely welcoming. We had a large party of 20 people and the majority of us had the suckling pig. This was absolutely mind-blowing. Everyone was taking pictures because it looked wonderful but as soon as they started eating everyone was awestruck. Not only did the pig look amazing, but the taste was also out of this world. The meat was succulent and was falling apart on the fork. The potatoes were cooked in rosemary and salt and were excellent as well!”

The restaurant was busy when we arrived and we were seated upstairs which gave us a nice elevated view. Lots of choice on the menu and for the 3 of us we chose a selection of 8 Tapas dishes all of which were perfectly cooked and were enjoyed very much by us all. The Calamari was particularly good in its lovely light batter. Super efficient friendly service as we have come to expect. La Regata remains our favourite restaurant choice in the city and we look forward to returning. Close

Read MoreA lovely place to sit and food was very lovely, although for my birthday so upsetting, I couldn't hear myself think let alone attempt in talking to my partner, there was no attempt unfortunately from the staff to intervene the table to mention the whole restaurant was able to hear them shouting and were upset with it, I left with not even finishing my meal and not ordering G dessert, and was hoping to have and book my leaving party at the restaurant, although I will be now looking for another venue, and hopefully a more appropriate atmosphere (not so noisy), the staff though despite not trying to speak to the loud table were very lovely people, I just wish something was said sooner so I could of enjoyed my evening, maybe my next birthday meal will be better. It’s a charming restaurant on the harbour front close to the ferry terminals with staff who all gave service with a smile.
The tapas we ate were all reasonably priced and excellent quality with some unusual items on the menu. We had Manchester cheese and crackers, cooked dates stuffed with blue cheese (delicious), pork escalope with chorizo and cheese, stuffed crepe mushrooms and fried bacalao strips all washed down with 2 bottles of the very drinkable Paso A Paso white wine.
There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant with the upstairs room used when the main restaurant gets busy. Well with a visit! Close
